Once upon a time there was a vanagon and this vanagon had a very good friend called Wendy.Wendy had loved vanagon for a long time, pouring money and time into its wellbeing and driving it all over the country. Now the time had come for Wendy to travel to places the vanagon just could not go in far off foreign lands. Enter Andy (that's me folks) - in need of an adventure and something to adventure in. Wendy saw a match made in heaven and offered to hook us up. So the adventure was on - One man ~ One van.

It all started out well enough way back at the end of October when we pulled away from Omega after a summer of selfless service. Alas, we hadn't even made New York City before it coughed, it spluttered, it shuddered, it juddered, it died... It's taken two months but now the show is almost back on the road!!

So most folk have questions such as...

  • What's the plan?
  • Where are you heading?
  • Why bother?
  • It costs how much to fix an engine???
  • Are you crazy?

    To which I tend answer

  • Sketchy at best
  • That way
  • Why not?
  • A lot
  • Quite possibly

The only 'plan' is to travel. To see America more on my own terms. Not confined within a Greyhound coach or an Amtrak train. To come and go and stop when the desire strikes (or the vanagon decides). To explore those small roads and interesting names on a map. Dropping in on old friends and meeting brand new ones along the way. Whilst taking as much time as it needs. The vague direction is South then West then North then possible Eastish ~ all the rest I'll let take care of itself.

So join me on my travels to who knows where. Discover new places, new people, boldly go where plenty of folks have gone before - though not in the order I do.

I'll be updating the journal and posting pictures as much as I can from the road. Hey if you drop by often enough it'll feel like you're in the vanagon with me! How much fun is that?

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the ride!
